21/01/18 - Upon our return from Iron Range we stayed in Cairns overnight before heading to Julatten in the hinterland above Port Douglas. Wet weather again played a part in photography but we did manage a some interesting sightings. A very productive trip for us in that we saw all but one of our target species with a few extras as a bonus.
16/01/18 - Arriving at Iron Range we immediately put our bags in our cabins and were off birding. The weather was hot and the humidity was very high. I think we drank more water in 4 days than we would normally in a month! We were on the go from 6.00 every morning, with day 2 finishing around 9.30. We travelled in an air-conditioned vehicle which gave brief respites before facing the heat yet again. A very rewarding experience with some wonderful people and our guides 'Chook' Crawford and partner Tracey. We saw much more than shown below but photography was hard as many birds only stayed still long enough to identify them.
11/01/18 - Arrived Cairns Wednesday and walked out of the airport into heat, high humidity and showers. We still managed to get out and about a bit to do some birding. We leave Cairns Friday for Iron Range where we are expecting a hectic 4 days as we chase a number of new species for us.
