Sydney & Port Fairy Pelagics trip. Header - Albatross Group
Total Trip Birds : 135 (2 lifers)
This is a 2 week birding trip, so there will be few pictures that are not birds.
17/06/18 - Leaving Chiltern, we headed for Greater Bendigo N.P. for some normally reliable spots for photography. Not to be as the wind was quite strong and bitterly cold. On the Friday we were advised that due to the marine forecast - total wave height for Sunday was predicted to be 6-7m (23ft) - the Port Fairy pelagic was cancelled.. A few photos from Bendigo but not very good quality.
14/06/18 - We reached Chiltern expecting rain but, fortunately the rain only occurred overnight. Below is a selection of the birds photographed.
10/06/18 - Leaving Mallacoota we journeyed to Nowra, NSW for the night. Prior to leaving for Sydney the next morning, we visited Bomaderry Creek Regional Park to search for Rockwarbler, a bird neither of us had seen. Successful, we headed off to Sydney for the next day's pelagic. New birds from the pelagic were Providence Petrel for us both and Brown Skua for John, I had seen one previosly. We are now at Goulburn, NSW heading for Wagga Wagga, NSW tomorrow then on to Chiltern, VIC for a couple of nights.
06/06/18 - We have had stops at Lakes Entrance and Mallacoota managing to get a few photos of birds we haven't seen for a while. A small selection below.
Friend John and I leave Monday, Jun 4th, for Sydney via the Eastern Coast, do the Sydney Pelagic on Jun 9th, then follow an inland route to Port Fairy for the Pelagic on the Jun 17th.
