15.03.19 - We reached Old Bar by way of an overnight stop at Gundagai - yes, we saw the 'Dog' again - then a 2 night stay at Gosford. A trip to The Entrance, which we thought would have good views, ended up as mostly beach access one side and a lake on the other with few places to stop. Booked in at Old Bar on Wednesday to heavy rain and a bleak forecast. The following morning we took advantage of a clear morning to do the 5km return beach walk to see the Aleutian Terns. Fortunately, they were still in residence. Friday and a trip inland to Wingham to see a remnant patch of rainforest, also habitat for Grey-headed Flying-Foxes. The forecast for Kiama, our proposed stop for the next week, is very discouraging, rain and showers every day, so we have changed plans and will head home, leaving it to another trip to explore that area.
We leave Sunday, March 10th, for Old Bar just south of Port Macquarie then travel along the coast to Kiama, south of Sydney. We will spend 2 weeks exploring the coast and nearby parks, an area not well covered previously.
