The Western Treatment Plant is located on the western side of Melbourne, near Werribee. It is a must for birders visiting the area, but does require planning. Access is by permit only or as a guest of a permit holder. The WTP is an important summer (Australia's) feeding ground for migratory waders adding to the permanent residents, making a total species list for the site of app. 290. The best visit I have had there was 105 species for the day.
